This may seem a bit odd as I discuss incredible hardships and great blessings in the same post. Its not that we had the one and then the other, which is quite typical. We headed east for a number of years. I want to describe the hardship as “wading through much affliction.” To top it off our wives were giving birth to children along the way. Each and every one of our wives would say “wading through affliction” is not a strong enough description of the hardships. But they are not writing this post, so I will leave it at that.
Now here is the great blessing part. No, the Lord didn’t deliver us from the hardship, but he made it so we could actually eat raw meat as we traveled. Yet, our wives, the mothers of our newborn babies, were able to nurse these precious new children along the way. Our wives were strengthened. Any one of them were as tough as were the men. It got to where we were able to bear this journey without murmuring. Maybe that is why I haven’t posted very often during this part of our journey.
I don’t know how many times I will repeat this lesson, but we saw that God’s commandments must be fulfilled and if we, His children do keep them, He takes care of us, He nourishes us, strengthens us and provides means whereby we can accomplish whatever He has commanded us. That is exactly what He is doing for us as we sojourn in the wilderness. Like I said, it has now been several years since we left the land of our inheritance at Jerusalem.
