Post by Ammon –
I shouldn’t be the one posting here. Of my brothers and I and Alma, Alma is the wordy one. But he has a way of influencing with words and insists I be the one to stand up against the oppression from my father, King Mosiah and Alma’s father, the High Priest. They’ve basically both lost their minds. It wasn’t long ago that the people of Lemhi and the people of old man Alma stumbled their way through the wilderness and found us here in Zarahemla. It was bad enough before they got here, but when they went all weak headed over the perception that God delivered them from the Lamanites it’s become silly.
My father gave Alma authority to set up churches all over the place. In these churches they teach a set of oppressive rules they say will lead you back to God. Well, if God were real, why would He let the Lamanites attack and destroy so much. It was funny that Alma and his followers obeyed that Abinadi preacher and their God still let them be put in bondage anyway. Doesn’t make sense to us clear minded ones.
When we try to point out the nonsense of it all, they call us sinners.
It started when old man Alma told us that after Abinadi was driven away, he returned in disguise to teach the people. How can you believe a man who is so delusional that gets in a disguise so no one will recognize him, then he sneaks back in where he is clearly not wanted and says, “The Lord commanded me, saying—Abinadi, go prophesy unto this my people, for they have hardened their hearts against my words.” What good did his disguise do? Why didn’t he just say, “Surprise, I’m back!” Gives us plenty to make light of.
Abinadi prophesied they would be smitten with sore afflictions, famine, pestilence, burdens, hail, winds, insects and that they would be like the blossoms of a thistle, which, when it is fully ripe, if the wind bloweth, it is driven forth upon the face of the land.
And then what actually happens? The priests of Noah get away clean and get a bunch of beautiful Laminate girls. Alma’s group who repents, gets the bondage part. Seems backwards to us. What actually happened was Lamanites were Lamanites. That’s what Lamanites do. They are heartless, useless and if God were God, He would be their God as well and He would make a way to teach them all this nonsense, not us who aren’t running around killing and making slaves of others. We’re not the ones that need all this preaching. Why doesn’t God teach the Lamanites that those who bring good tidings and publish peace have beautiful feet on the mountains. – whatever that means. If we don’t understand and accept all this preaching, certainly the Lamanites won’t.
All the talk about the law of Moses and salvation, about no other Gods, graven images and all the rest? I think we agree Abinadi was mad.
When we challenged some of the foolish followers that none of us have other gods, they piously point out that we worship our own pride and riches and sinful adulterous relationships. As for sabbath day, honoring father and mother, killing, stealing, false witness, coveting? Why shouldn’t we have what we want? My brothers and I and especially Alma are tired of being called the vilest of sinners. We’ll show these pious ones. As for coveting, there are a few of my neighbors who have wives, I want. Not yet, Alma says.
