Post by Nephi –
In my last post, as I explained the Doctrine of Christ, I referred to speaking with the tongue of angels. Let me please now discuss Angels and speaking as they speak.
Its likely you’re pondering in your hearts about what you do after you have repented of your sins, made the baptismal covenant and committed to obeying the commandments. This is the point of this post. Don’t you remember that I wrote that after you have received the Holy Ghost which is the baptism by fire, you could speak with the tongue of angels? How else could you speak with the tongue of angels if it weren’t by the Holy Ghost.
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost, therefore they speak the words of Christ. That is why I said we should feast on the words of Christ, because the words of Christ will tell us everything we should do. So that you don’t perish in darkness like so many do in world in your day, you need to ask of Him. He said if we knock we will receive – which means if we really want to know and we ask Him, He will reveal to us what we should do, we will then have His light, or clear direction in our lives.
So, the doctrine of Christ is that we repent, enter in the way we should go, receiving the Holy Ghost to direct us in what we should do. I am convinced there is nothing more than this that I can say. Certainly when Christ manifests Himself in the flesh, you will observe all the things He says to do, but for me this really says it all.
And for now I, Nephi, cannot say more; the Spirit stops me from saying more. I am left to mourn because of the unbelief, and the wickedness, and the ignorance, and the stiffneckedness of men. They just won’t search knowledge, nor understand great knowledge, when it is given to them plainly, even as plain as word can be.
It grieves my soul that I have to repeat myself so much. But if you would listen and respond to the Spirit which teaches a man to pray, you would realize you must pray. The evil spirit teaches man not to pray, but teaches him that he should not pray. I cannot stress enough that you must always pray. In fact you should not do anything unto the Lord unless in the first place you pray to the Father in the name of Christ, for Him to consecrate your performance so that your performance may be for the welfare of your own soul.
This sounds kind of selfish but you did read that right. Christ wants us to be the recipients of the blessings of our service to Him. In other words, we obey Him, we serve Him and as we seek His help through prayer to do so, Christ will consecrate our obedience to benefit our souls. One more time – we are commanded to pray so that the obedience and service and love we give to the Savior directly benefits us and our soul. He is not doing this for Himself, this doctrine of Christ is the doctrine of Christ saving us. He has already worked out His salvation – His work now is us. And as we therefore share this with others, we will be given what to say by the power of the Holy Ghost and will therefore be speaking with the tongue of Angels.
