Post of Jacob –
We appreciate the kind words from so many about my dear brother Nephi. I have been commanded to continue Nephi’s blog, and in pondering the words of my father Lehi to me just prior to Lehi’s death, I feel it necessary to continue this blog to fulfill Nephi’s command and to fulfill my father’s exhortation.
“Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.”
Nephi was very firm in our need to preserve and continue this blog. Therefore, you will continue to receive these postings as well as I can continue in Nephi’s place.
Fifty five years have passed away from the time that Lehi left Jerusalem; to fulfill my commandment I will include in this blog a few of the things which I consider to be most precious and I will not touch, save it be lightly, concerning the history of our people which are called the people of Nephi. I will pass this blog and hand it down to my seed, from generation to generation. When there is preaching which is sacred, or revelation which is great, or prophesying, I will blog about it for Christ’s sake, and for the sake of our people. For because of faith and great anxiety, it truly has been made manifest unto us many revelations, we know of Christ and His kingdom, which will come. Wherefore we labor diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God, that they might enter into his rest. Wherefore, we would to God that we could persuade all men not to rebel against God, to provoke him to anger, but that all men would believe in Christ, and view his death, and suffer his cross and bear the shame of the world; wherefore, I, Jacob, take it upon me to fulfil the commandment of my brother Nephi.
