Post by Ezekiel –
Nephi,
As you know, I was deported to Babylon with Jehoiachin after the death of Jehoiakim, a few years before you and your family left Jerusalem. We now reside in Tel-Abib near the river Chebar. I understand that Zedekiah is king in Judah, but many of the exiles still believe Jehoiachin to be the true Davidic monarch.
The people have turned deaf ears on the words of Jeremiah. I have heard that Jeremiah was betrayed by Pashur the priest. Surely Lehi, your father, would have received the same treatment had you not left Jerusalem. Oh Jerusalem! What a rebellious house, how can she persecute and kill the prophets? Should Jeremiah starve, as those wicked priests intend, the blood of the righteous will be upon their hands.
The Lord has shown me how Jerusalem will fall. The great city will be surrounded by siege walls and battering rams. It has been declared; so those who hear, let them hear; and those who refuse, let them refuse. The Lord has said it.
Remain steadfast my brother, the house of Jacob will prevail.
