Post by Jacob –
Enos is now in charge of this blog, but I wish to take one more opportunity to share with you my feelings.
We have devised all sorts of plans to reclaim and restore my brothers Laman and Lemuel’s family to the truth but we have just plain failed to do so. They seem to love war and bloodshed more than truth and no matter what we do they can’t get past what appears to be an eternal hatred for us.
They are continually trying to destroy us. Nephi fortified us with three things. 1 – Arms of war with which we could protect ourselves, 2 – Expertise in the use of these arms and most importantly, 3 – Trust in the Lord, the rock of our salvation. So far we have conquered our enemy.
As Joseph mentioned, he and I are getting old and so I am concluding my record with a declaration that I have written according to the best of my knowledge, and by saying that the time passed away with us, and also our lives passed away like as it were unto us a dream, we being a lonesome and a solemn people, wanderers, cast out from Jerusalem, born in tribulation, in a wilderness, and hated of our brethren, which caused wars and contentions; wherefore, we did mourn out our days.
Since Enos will be taking over this blog, I make an end of my writing in this blog, which writing has been small; and to the reader I bid farewell, hoping that many of my brethren may read my words. Brethren, adieu.
