(First year of the reign of King Zedekiah, 600 years BC.)
I am starting this blog in the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah. We as a family have dwelt at Jerusalem most all of our lives. There have been many prophets that have come to our people, prophesying unto us that we must repent, or the great city Jerusalem must be destroyed.
My father, Lehi is one of these many prophets. As a prophet, he prayed to the Lord with all his heart in behalf of our people.
I wish to tell you about a recent occasion where my father had gone to the Lord in prayer. As he prayed to the Lord, there came a pillar of fire that rested on a rock before him; and he saw and heard much; and because of the things which he saw and heard he was troubled and trembled exceedingly. After this vision, he returned to our house at Jerusalem; and he threw himself upon his bed, being overcome with the Spirit and the things which he had seen.
