Post by Sam –
We are now here in the promised land. As Nephi has recounted the trials and the great deliverance experienced by the people of Moses to our family throughout this our journey to our promised land, I don’t think any of us had any idea how promised a land could be. Though our journey was short compared to that of the children of Israel, it was still quite difficult for us. Yet, this land is far richer than any we had ever seen.
After my brothers loosed the bands that held Nephi on the ship, he took the compass, which again began to work. With fervent prayer to the Lord, the winds ceased, the storm ended and there was a great calm. With direction of the compass we sailed to this the promised land.
We left the ship and pitched our tents and began to till the earth and plant our seeds.
As mentioned in an earlier post, we brought many seeds with us from Jerusalem. We took them all and planted them in this rich fertile soil. We are so abundantly blessed, as our fields are growing so well.
As we are exploring this new land, we are finding all kinds of beasts in the forests, including both the cow, the ox, the ass and horses. There are goats and all sorts of wild animals that are for our use. Leave it to Nephi to also find all sorts of different ore, including gold, silver and copper.
When the children of Israel were finally led into their promised land by Joshua, they never found a land like this. I know because we used to live in that land. In other words, we left their promised land and despite the rough journey (most of which was brought upon us by our behavior might I admit) we were brought to a land beyond description. We thank the Lord with all our hearts.
