– Post by King Benjamin

I am filled with gratitude for the guidance of the Lord’s prophets. A king may wear a crown, but without divine wisdom, his rule is nothing. Throughout my reign, I sought counsel from the Lord’s messengers, for they carried His word to our people. Their voices brought peace to times of contention, and their teachings reminded us that obedience to God’s commandments is the only path to prosperity and happiness.
The Nephite nation has long faced threats from external enemies, but one of our greatest struggles comes from within. My people become prideful, forgetting the source of their blessings. Contentions arise over riches, status, and perceived injustices. I mourn divisions among my people—some growing hard-hearted, others neglecting the needs of the poor, and some even questioning the teachings of our fathers.
It was in these times that I turned to the prophets, those who spoke the words of God with boldness and clarity. Their counsel is my greatest weapon against the evils of division and sin. Through them, the Lord reminds us that peace cannot be achieved through power or laws alone, but through humility and obedience to His commandments.
These prophets, whose names may not all be recorded, are the true guardians of our people. Their voices carry the warnings and promises of the Lord. They call the people to repentance, reminding them that only through righteousness will they retain the blessings of God in their lives.
They speak of the dangers of pride and idolatry, urging us to remember the covenants we have made. They teach that service to our fellow men is the key to drawing closer to God. I stand beside these holy men as they pleaded with the people to turn their hearts to the Lord.
When wickedness threatened our land, the prophets fasted and prayed, seeking divine guidance. Their counsel strengthened me as a king, and their faithfulness reassured me that God had not forsaken us. Through their words, I saw the people stirred to repentance, softening their hearts and renewing their commitment to living righteously.
The greatest lesson these prophets teach is the importance of keeping the commandments of God. They remind us that we have been delivered from the land of Jerusalem and preserved as a people because of our obedience. They warned that if we turn away from the Lord, we will suffer the same fate as those who have been destroyed before us.
Inspired by their teachings, I made it my duty to reinforce these truths among my people. I called upon all to serve one another, to care for the poor, and to love God with all their hearts. I knew that laws alone would not change hearts—only the word of God, spoken by His servants, could do that.
Now, in my old age, I see the wisdom of the Lord in surrounding me with such faithful prophets. Without them, I could not have led my people as I did. They were my strength in difficult times, my guides in moments of uncertainty, and the voice of the Lord among us.
To those who seek peace in troubled times, I say this: Listen to the prophets. Honor their words. Obey the commandments of God. For in doing so, you will find the path to true happiness and lasting prosperity.
