Post by Nephi –
You just read what Sam said about our recent travels. He failed to mention how this new expedition started. Not that we were necessarily comfortable, but we had food, water and weren’t heading back to Jerusalem any time soon. None of us were anxious to be moving. The Lord however, never seems to let things be stagnant very long. His voice spoke to my father at night telling him that in the morning we were to take our journey into the wilderness. When my father told us that we were to take our journey into the wilderness, my brothers were quick to reminded my father we were already in the wilderness. That discussion was a very short one once they saw what my father found on the ground in front of his tent door.
In the morning when my father left his tent he found a round ball made of fine brass. It was such curious workmanship. Within it were two spindles. One of them pointed the way we should head into the wilderness, or as my brothers pointed out “deeper into the wilderness.” It was quite astonishing.
We gathered up our things and readied them to be carried into the wilderness. There were considerable provisions the Lord had given us, including every kind of seed and of course our tents. We packed it all up, crossed the river Laman and departed “deeper” into the wilderness.
