I thank Abish. I believe the Lord, in His great foreknowledge, prepared her to serve as a key witness as well as an instrument to bring to pass the conversion of many of her people the Lamanites.
The Lord in his great timing has positioned and prepared his children to facilitate his work. Consider our impatience when we don’t understand the end as He does. The challenges we faced at the Waters of Sebus, led the king’s servants to express their wonder of my power. It wasn’t my power at all, it was God’s plan to open a heart and generate sincere questions. When those questions were answered by the spirit, the king’s opened heart consumed eternal truths to his being overcome by the spirit.
When each of us was overcome by the spirit, we individually were ministered to by angels being taught eternal truths. Our hearts were being changed and our understanding was enlarged.
Due to Abish’s inspired action, and I believe it was inspired to gather people around to witness this great awakening, King Lamoni and his queen and many of his household had an immediate audience to which they taught and testified of the great things they had witnessed.
Immediately, seeing the contention among his people, the king went forth and began to teach the words that he’d been taught by me and by the angels. As many as were willing to listen, were converted to the Lord. Those who would not listen were not converted. They went their own way.
Abish was once the lone follower of Christ in the king’s household and she’d kept it a secret. Now, a whole host of Lamoni’s servants declared the word of God. They testified how their hearts had been changed and how they had no more desire for evil. They declared to the people that they had seen angels and conversed with them and learned the things of God and His righteousness.
With all this, many of Lamoni’s people believed and were baptized and became a righteous people. We were blessed to establish a church among them. The work of the Lord thus began among the Lamanites. The Lord in his great mercy and love poured his spirit and extended His love and mercy to all those who repented and believed in His name.
