Post by Amnor – Spy turned warrior.
This fifth year of the reign of judges has been a tough year. It started with apostasy, which led to civil unrest, then to civil war, then two wars with our enemy the Lamanites. Alma’s personal wounds are beginning to heal and our people’s wounds, with the grace of a merciful God may also heal.
After our people, who were not slain in the battle with the Amlicites, buried the countless number of our people who were killed, among whom are many women and children, they returned to our lands and our houses and our wives and children. We never numbered how many of our people were slain. Along with our people, many of our flocks and herds along with our fields of grain were destroyed being trodden down.
Any conscious thought makes you wonder how the deception of one man and his followers can stir up so much hatred among families and neighbors to a level of hate that killing becomes the result. Imagine the power of satan that can enter the hearts of men to make you willing to kill your neighbors.
As for the dead of the Lamanites and the Amlicites who we killed on the banks of the river Sidon, we cast them all into the waters of Sidon. By now their bones are in the depths of the sea.
That was war number one. We had barely disposed of all the dead bodies after the battles we fought in the land of Zarahemla, when another army of the Lamanites attacked our people at the same place where our first army met the Amlicites.
As I mentioned Alma was wounded in the battle with the Amlicites and the Lamanites, so he was unable to lead this second battle. He did however send us back with a numerous army against this new Lamanite army. We again slaughtered so many of them, they turned and fled. We again drove them from our lands.
Once again we returned to our homes and began to establish peace in the land, being troubled no more for a time with our enemies.
As I wrote earlier, all these wars and contentions were commenced and ended in the fifth year of the reign of the judges.
In one year were thousands and tens of thousands of souls sent to the eternal world, that they might reap their rewards according to their works, whether they were good or whether they were bad, to reap eternal happiness or eternal misery, according to the spirit which they listed to obey, whether it be a good spirit or a bad one.
Every one of us will receive eternal wages from whom we choose to obey. Eternal happiness from a loving eternal God, or eternal damnation from the devil, even Satan himself.
And thus endeth the fifth year of the reign of the judges.
