Post by Amnor – Alma’s spy –
In my recent post you read how Alma destroyed Amlici and then faced the king of the Lamanites. What a coward. Cowards will always flee when faced with their own personal peril. That is just what this king did. He turned and ran. He commanded his guards to fight against Alma. Those of us who considered ourselves Alma’s guards, rather than guard him, followed him. With Alma in the lead we battled against the cowardly kings guards. We pushed them back and killed most of them.
As we cleared the banks of the river Sidon, throwing the hundred’s of dead bodies into the river, we had room to cross the river and battle both the Lamanites and the Amlicites on the west side of the river.
The shear mass of humanity was overwhelming. Bodies falling every where. Despite the shear numbers of the Lamanites and the Amlicites which out numbered us by many times, they couldn’t hold against an army supported by a merciful God. They ran for their cowardly lives.
We did not let up, in the strength of the Lord, Alma led us against this enemy, an enemy determined to destroy or enslave us. The Lamanites fled towards the wilderness which was west and north away from the borders of the land. We chased and pursued them with all our strength. We administered death in every direction they fled. They became so scattered when they reached the wilderness which we call Hermounts, they didn’t hesitate to continue into the wilderness. This was a part of wilderness infested by wild and ravenous beasts.
As we later learned, many of them died in the wilderness of their wounds. They were devoured by the beasts and the vultures. We found their bones and have heaped them up on the earth.
All of this because a wicked man wanted to be king and foolish people were deceived and became subject to the cunning of the devil.
And because a righteous man, Alma, wanted to serve God and liberty and thus led us under the direction of God, we are still a free people.
