Post by Alma –
I see Ammon attempted to relate our visit from his astonished view point. Permit me to relate this experience from a different viewpoint, a viewpoint of absolute horror and astonishing wonder.
My father Alma and his priests, King Mosiah, and many others dedicated themselves to fasting and prayers for two days and nights that I might regain my strength. In answer to those prayers, I have received my strength. I stood and bid them and you to be of good comfort. Thank you for your prayers.
I have and am repenting of my sins. I have been redeemed of the Lord and I am born of the Spirit. Speaking directly to me and now me speaking directly to you, don’t marvel that all mankind, including men and women, all nations, kindreds tongues and people must be born again. This means we all must be born of God, changed from our carnal and fallen state to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters. Believe me, I know firsthand about the carnal and fallen state.
This being born of God means we become new creatures, we become like God and if we don’t, there is no way for us to inherit the kingdom of God. If not we we will be cast off.
I now share my personal experience with this very truth.
I was about to be cast off. You all know what I was like, what I was doing, the life I was leading. Yes, I was indeed the very vilest of sinners.
Following the visit from the angel, I waded through so much tribulation repenting nigh unto death and the Lord in His mercy saw fit to snatch me out of an everlasting burning. I am born of God.
I am not boasting. It was NOT me. I rejected my Redeemer. I denied what was spoken by our fathers. I was in the gall of bitterness, the very bonds of iniquity. Ammon taunts me for my verbosity, but indeed I was in the darkest abyss. My soul was racked with eternal torment. My merciful God snatched my soul from the eternal torment. My soul is pained no more. I behold the marvelous light of God.
Our Redeemer will make himself manifest to all of us. Every one of us will kneel before him and confess that He is God. For those who live without God in the world, the judgement of an everlasting punishment will be just upon them. They will quake, tremble and shrink beneath the glance of God’s all searching eye. Having shrunk myself beneath His glance and feeling the horror of that situation, my heart aches for any who will suffer that fate. May I and my partners in rebellion ever retain a forgiveness of our sins as we strive to become instruments in Gods hands in bringing His children to a knowledge of His merciful kindness as we preach good tidings of joy.
