Post by King Mosiah –
It’s now been three years since my father King Benjamin consecrated me to be king. Being blessed of the Lord, it has been a time of peace. It seems so uncommon for our people to have no contention. Yet, having made sacred covenants with the Lord and having priests and teachers to keep us reminded of those covenants, it is very evident the promises made to us by the Lord are kept every wit when we make and keep sacred covenants.
We are saddened by the loss of my father. We are grateful he was able to enjoy these three years of peace among the people he served and loved with all his soul. With his passing, we are striving to follow his example in what we refer to as his hallmark teaching “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”
With that as our guiding foundation, I personally have not only dedicated myself to observe God’s judgments and His statutes and to keep His commandments in all the things our God has commanded us, I have encouraged my people to retain in remembrance their covenants and have caused my people that they should till the earth. And so as not to become a burden to my people I till the earth along side my people, just as my father did.
Of paramount interest however, during these 3 years of continual peace, the people have wearied me with their teasings about our people who went up out of Zarahemla to dwell in the land of Lehi-Nephi or the city of Lehi-Nephi. We have not heard anything from them since they left us some 80 years ago.
Only a few of our people were even alive when a strong and mighty, and stiffnecked man by the name of Zeniff took a considerable number of our people into the wilderness desirous to possess the land of our inheritance. It’s been so many years since they left, those who remember were only children at the time, and I certainly wasn’t around since I am only 33 years old.
So as the king, I have granted that sixteen of our strong men might go up to the land of Lehi-Nephi, to inquire concerning our brethren.
Tomorrow they will head out being led by one Ammon, he being a strong and mighty man, and a descendant of Zarahemla.
We really don’t know the course they should travel in the wilderness to go up to the land of Lehi-Nephi, but we hope and pray they will be able to return safely and successfully.
