My father Jarom only made one entry into this blog and this will be my only entry. He was a good man and though he taught me well enough, I have not lived up to the family heritage from which I come. Of course he, Jarom was a righteous man, though he didn’t write much about it, he did spend a great deal of time preaching and testifying to the people. His father, my grandfather Enos, was valiant in his testimony and certainly his father, uncle and grandfather, Jacob, Nephi and Lehi were those strong in conviction to obey God in all things. Since my father commanded me to keep this blog so as to preserve our genealogy, I have now fulfilled that command.
I suppose the reasons I have not kept the statutes and the commandments of the Lord as I ought to have done is because the things of the world simply have had more of an attraction to me than the things of God. As I was growing up we had seasons of great prosperity in the things of this world. Our craftsmen built beautiful buildings and adorned them with precious metals and all manner of beautiful things. If what the prophets say is true, it is because of our pride in our prosperity that keeps us from truly following God with all our hearts. They say if we repent and turn to God, He will fight our battles and protect us from falling into the hands of our enemies, the Lamanites. We have however, become more reliant on our weapons of war and our own strength to preserve our people. I suppose if I hadn’t become a wicked man, I too would be receiving revelations and have some prophetic calling.
So, two hundred and eighty and two years have passed away, and I have kept these plates according to the commandments of my fathers; and I confer them on my son Amaron. And I make an end.
